Hello, I would like to make a correction to the description of the 335-S Custom. It is not the case that it was only available in Sunburst. I bought my 335-S Custom new in 1981 from Guitars Etc in Seattle. It has a non-Sunburst uniform dark finish with the wood grain visible. It has an unbound rosewood fretboard, fine tuning tailpiece, and coil tap and it's a great versatile guitar.

I have a silverburst I picked up this weekend. The damage to the guitar was all cosmetic, but the finish had greened a little bit and I was on the fence about buying it, until...

I plugged the guitar into a Fender Twin Reverb, and played in through the amp. I was impressed but not sold. Then, I switched the pickup from the bridge to the neck, and I couldn't get the money out of my pocket fast enough. The bridge pickup on this guitar is EASILY the best pickup I've ever heard.

Here's my problem. I don't know what kind of pickup this is. If you could shed some light on this for me, I'd be much obliged.

Drop me a line on my website? The Average White Guy I'd really appreciate it.

The 335-S Deluxe also came in Cherry; probably a rare colour than the tobacco sunburst and silverburst. The Standards colour was called 'Autumn Maple'

I borrowed my brother's deluxe from him while he is away at college. This guitar is so ugly I always thought it was a fake SG because it is so rounded off and has the coils instead of humbuckers. I took it to Guitar Center and everyone flipped out.

The 335 S custom was also available in '82 with the unbound neck, as I have one. Bought it at a garage sale for $100. It took a little digging for me to figure out what it was

I have a 335-S Delux "Professional" - Cherry - bought it new in '81. It's always been a treat to play! (Was planning to buy a Telecaster when I went to the guitar shop . . .). Don't remember exactly what I paid for it; but it seems to have gone up in value.

I have a Gibson Professional 335 S Deluxe Silver burst.
Sounds great and often reminds me of Robben ford's sound when I play the blues with it.
    Good guitars.

Also, not one but two factory centertaps. open coil black humm pups. PTTP-30 fine tuning tailpiece and brass nut. the most slender neck I've ever played. Great for blues.

Playing on a buddies 81 deluxe professional, by far better than what they're making today in my opinion! I make this scream like a paul, but can get the snap and pop of a strat or tele pretty easily!! An all around spectacular idea from Gibson, and I'm a Fender junkie!!

I bought an ES-335S Deluxe new from the music store where I worked in Tampa. The 1st thing I did was to have a Kahler tremolo and locking nut installed. I have to say, after 42 years of playing, it remains the best, bar none, guitar I've ever owned. Unfortunately I had to sell it it in 1989. Kind of makes me wonder if the one that JimC214 has is the one I had to sell.

I cant believe it. I also have a 335s deluxe, wine red with a kahler tremolo. Was that a popular thing to install back in the day? I bought mine in prince george bc canada back in early 90s. It's the only one I've ever seen. My name is Jasper Croy from Quesnel BC canada.

I have one that I got in 95 with the kayler and locking nut, and by far sounds better than my either of my les pauls, I am currently redoing it, and trying to find all original parts but not having much luck

I owned a E335S back in the early 80s. For the life of me, I can't remember what color it was. Either a dark burgundy wine or dark brown burst. Kinda both if you can imagine that. Had it a couple of weeks. Loaned it to a friend for a gig or two and never saw it again. Liked it a lot. Original case with about every kind of airline sticker and Radio stickers, all access, ECT. About covered in stick-ons. If anyone has seen it, I'd like to know. You might price it to me, be so kind and give it to me, but in all probability, Enjoy it Bob Abrams 580-606-0278.. Oklahoma
