Gibson Chet Atkins Guitars

Gibson Chet Atkins Ce (1981-2005)

In 1981 Gibson introduced the Gibson Chet Atkins CE guitar, the CE stands for classical electric, its had a single cutaway, multi bound, a rosewood board and gold hardware. 1981 through 2005 these guitars were made in several colors (Black, Natural, Sunburst and White).

Gibson Chet Atkins CEC (1981-2005)

During the same time they also made the Gibson Chet Atkins CEC, the CEC also stands for classical electric cutaway, it was quite the same guitar but with an ebony board instead of rosewood and a 2" width nut. From 1981 to 2005 they were made in black, natural, white and red wine.

Gibson Chet Atkins Country Gentleman (1986 - 2005)

This guitar was and is the most popular out of all the Chet Atkin models, they were introduced in 1986 and until 2005. It's a thin line arch-top, has a single rounded cutaway, f-holes, two hum bucker pickups, gold hardware with a Bigsby tailpiece and made in various colors.

Gibson Chet Atkins SST (1987-2006)

In 1987 Gibson also introduced the Gibson Chet Atkins SST, it was a steel string solid body acoustic electric guitar, had a single cutaway, transducer pick up, active bass and treble controls and fitted with gold hardware. From 1990 to 1993 two models were added to the production line, they were the Chet Atkins SST-12 (12 string) and the SST Celebrity (200 made with gold hardware).

Gibson Chet Atkins Tennessean (1990-2005)

Another guitar that was and is still popular from Gibson that bears the nam Chet Atkins is the Chet Atkins tennessean, made in 1990, it's a single rounded cutaway arch top fitted two hum buckers, f-holes, stop tailpiece and bound body. Some still argue that the Gibson Chet Atkins tennessean is one of the finest modern guitar that Gibson ever made, a favorite amongst jazz players.

    1. In Nashville at the Gibson USA factory. Same as the Gibson Country Gentleman. The Country Gentleman was the most expensive USA factory model made at the time (and cost adjusted the most expensive in modern history.)

regarding chet atkins cec, you state was made from 1981-1985, but made in various colors from 1982-1991. was that a typo regarding 1985....should read 1995 like the CE model?

I play a '94 Tennessean. What people overlook is its ebony neck. What other electric has an ebony neck and also a nut of 1'3/4". It has been the perfect transition for me from classical guitar. .

  16. GIBSON has complete don't care attitude toward customer service. I need someone to tell me where i can either buy a replacement preamp setup or get mine repaird, or who made them for gibson or any other help. It's a 1995 Gibson Chet Atkins SST and they refuse to provide any kind of information to us. I will never buy another gibson product after all these years because they don't give a big crap about customers after they sell you high dollar guitars. They suck. any information appreciated, I'd like to play my guitar. thanks
