Gibson J-45 Buddy Holly Guitar

Gibson J-45 Buddy Holly (1995-1996)

When guitar players think of Buddy Hollys' guitar gear, automatically they associate him with Fender guitars, Ampeg guitar amps and Fender tweed twin amps. However, many of his most famous songs were written on a Gibson J-45 acoustic guitar.

The Gibson J-45 was introduced in 1942 and became buddy's' pride and joy during the 50s. The grayish, tan, black decorated leather cover that you see in the picture was handmade by himself and became Buddy Hollys' unique trademark until this very day.

Rumors are that the original Buddy Holly guitar was sold in 1990 for almost $250 000. In 1995 Gibson introduced the buddy holly model limited edition, it was a reproduction of the original Gibson J-45 Buddy Holly Guitar

It had a solid spruce sitka top, pearl dots on a rosewood fingerboard, Gibson inlayed banner logo "Only a Gibson Is Good Enough",  Buddy Holly signature on truss rod cover, mahogany back/sides/neck, and were made in vintage sunburst.

Only 250 guitars were made in 1995 and are all numbered. They came with a Gibson case with a buddy holly signed rose cover sheet and a certificate personally signed by Maria Elena (Hollys' wife).
