Gibson Les Paul Deluxe (1969-1985) The Gibson Les Paul Deluxe electric guitar was originally released in 1969, it was a renamed guitar and originated from the Gibson Les Paul Standard (gold top model). The main feature of the Gibson Les Paul deluxe was its mini hum buckers. The hum buckers produced a nice tight crunchy sound and the result pleased many guitar players including Pete Townshend who used them in several concerts. The guitar appeared on the Gibson price list in 1969 for $425 and was a very successful seller. In 1969 the Gibson LP deluxe featured 2 mini hum buckers, maple top, mahogany body, a gold top finish, pantograph logo and a 3 piece neck. During the mid seventies regular sized hum buckers were optional and few were also produced with p-90 pickups. Gibson Gospel Acoustic Guitar (1972-1979) The Gibson gospel guitar originated in 1972-73 and it was intended to be a deep sounding vocal backup instrument . It was a flat top , had square shoulders, arched back, maple neck, laminated maple back and sides and had a tortoise style body binding Were available only in natural finishes. The guitar was not only designed for gospel music, the Gibson gospel acoustic guitar is also a wise instrument choice for bluegrass, folk, country music and even blues. Gibson Gospel Reissue (1992 -1997) In 1992 Gibson again offered the gospel acoustic model, the reissue is actually superior compared to the original. Gibson chose mahogany over maple for the reissue, it has multiple white binding, multi ply arched back (very deep sounding), unbound rosewood fingerboard with pearl dot inlays, scalloped braces like those on the more expensive models, and finishes were available in natural or sunburst. Gibson SG Special (1959- 1978) In 1959 until early 1961 the SG Special had a double rounded cutaway and were made with rounded horns, they had no model name on the peg head and were made in cherry or cream finish. In 1961 the Gibson SG Les Paul Standard and the Gibson SG Les Custom were introduced on the market and until this day these Gibson guitars are some of the most popular electric guitars ever made. They had 2 pointed twin cutaways, the SG Les Paul Custom was finished in black or white (3 hum buckers) and the SG Les Paul Standard was finished in cherry red (2 hum buckers).
